Sermon Gleanings

Romans 12: 11-12, Calvary the Hill

Patience is passive — endurance is active.

Be diligent! You are working for Jesus! Your work may not be fully recognized, or recompensed, but if you do it as to  Him, He will reward you. In serving Jesus, nothing is wasted.

Love takes the burden of work, and makes it joy.

Finally, constancy in prayer (among other things) re-aligns us with God and His agenda.

John 1:1-5, Emmanuel Church

Irony is when the opposite of what you expect, comes true. Many ironies — joyful, weird ones, not the cynical complaining hipster variety — are woven into the epic salvation story of the world.

God uses ironies to straighten our pride.
